WINTER CONCERT – Tuesday, December 20, 2016
The FINAL Stevenson Winter Band and Orchestra Concert in the old auditorium will be held Tuesday, December 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $5 at the door. Band and Orchestra members should be sure to check the concert dress requirements listed in the handbook received at the beginning of the year (a digital copy can be found on the music website - HANDBOOK). Check your concert dress now so you have time to get anything you may need before the concert!
Below are times for members of each ensemble to report. All individuals must check in upon arrival. Ensembles will meet and warm-up in the North Cafeteria. Individuals MUST get all instruments and concert needs out of the auditorium before 6:45p. Be sure to leave valuables at home. Items left out are in jeopardy of being stolen. All band and orchestra students are expected to stay for the entire concert, assist with stage cleanup after the concert, and checkout after the stage is cleared. Individuals who do not assist with cleanup, leave early, or neglect to checkout will lose points from their concert grade.
Concert and Symphony Band – 6:30 p.m.
Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble – 6:45 p.m.
The performance order for the concert is:
Marching Band letters will be distributed after the Symphony Band performance. Students who are not in Symphony Band, who will be receiving a letter, must be lined up in alphabetical order in the music hallway during Symphony Band’s performance.
Following the winter concert on December 20, we will have an afterglow in the south cafeteria. If you can provide cookies, brownies, (items that do not need to be cut), etc., please visit the Sign-Up Genius link below to donate items. Food donations can be dropped off in the south cafeteria from 6-6:30p.
YEARBOOK GROUP PICTURES - Thursday, December 22, 2016
Thursday, December 22 the photographers for the yearbook will be out to take the MUSIC ENSEMBLE PICTURES for the yearbook. ALL band and orchestra members need to have their complete concert dress on Thursday (including Jazz Band). Jazz Band will take their photo during 3rd hour. Jazz Band members need to be in the auditorium in concert dress by 9:55a.
SOLO & ENSEMBLE SCHEDULE - Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Ann Arbor Pioneer HS
The DISTRICT SOLO & ENSEMBLE schedule is now available in the link below and on the music web. Be sure to share this information with your ensemble members and accompanist as soon as possible. Remind accompanists the event will be held at Ann Arbor Pioneer again this year.
Individuals who have registered for Solo and Ensemble should have selected their music
and started setting up rehearsal schedules with accompanists and ensemble members. Please read through ALL information/rules to be sure you qualify for a rating. Solo and Ensemble will be held at ANN ARBOR PIONEER HS on Saturday, January 28, 2017.

In rehearsal Monday we will be working on Coming Home Baby and Jazzy Ol’ Christmas. We will read through Blues in the Closet and Then One Day I Had the Blues. Be sure to work out your individual parts before rehearsal so we can have a productive rehearsal. Recordings for several of the pieces can be found online and/or downloaded from iTunes.
