CONGRATULATIONS to all the individuals who performed an event at Solo and Ensemble on Saturday! Stevenson had 24 events qualify for STATE SOLO & ENSEMBLE by receiving a 1 on their performance. What an outstanding accomplishment for our musicians! Events that qualify and choose to participate in State Solo and Ensemble must register by TUESDAY, JANUARY 31, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. State Solo and Ensemble will be held at SOUTH LYON HIGH SCHOOL (location change!) on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Be sure to check with accompanists NOW to be sure they are available for the date and location of State Solo and Ensemble. If you accompanist plays for students at other schools, the two schools may be scheduled at a different sites, which will create a conflict for your accompanist. State registration forms are available in the link below.
Place registration form and all money for your entire event in a sealed envelope and return to Mrs. Wickman by TUESDAY, JANUARY 31, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.
Students in grades 10-12 who register to perform a solo at State Solo & Ensemble are required to perform a proficiency, which includes scales and sight-reading in addition to the prepared solo. Please read the proficiency information in the link below to be sure you are applying for the correct proficiency level. If this is your first year playing a proficiency, you should be registering for proficiency 1. In the document you will also find scale requirements and all extra requirements for piano and percussion. Proficiencies are for SOLOS grades 10-12.
In rehearsal Monday we will be working on Beauty & the Beast, Enchante, and Coming Home Baby. Be sure to work out your individual parts before rehearsal so we can have a productive rehearsal. If you have time to enter your part into Note Flight or other notation software that can save .xml or .mus files, I would like to create a score for rehearsal purposes. In addition, the Jazz Band will perform Thursday night for the incoming 9th grade Open House at 6:45p. Be sure to wear a colored dress shirt and black pants for the performance. Call time is 6:20p.

MUSICAL - PIT ORCHESTRA
This year's MUSICAL will be Annie. There will be a meeting Tuesday, January 31 at 3p for individuals who are interested in participating in pit orchestra. Since the shows we perform at Stevenson are full Broadway musicals, the music can be very challenging. Therefore, the opportunity to participate is available to students based on their concert ensemble and chair placement (there are NO auditions). Individuals selected to participate in the pit will be informed in class Wednesday. The tentative schedule for practices can be found in the link below. Be sure to check your schedule before coming to the meeting Tuesday. It is extremely important that members of the pit participate in every rehearsal for the entire scheduled time. If you cannot commit to the schedule, you should not plan to participate.
Thursday, February 9 is the Stevenson Triad Collage Concert (Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Marching Band will perform). Marching Band will have a rehearsal in the competition gym Monday, February 6 from 3-4:30p to prepare for the event. Be sure you have located your marching band uniform and all its pieces (jacket, pants, gloves, shoes, hat) for this performance.
