Pre-Arranged Absence Form
Students' attendance is crucial to performance because, unlike tests in other classes, everyone relies on each other to play their part and be present. Occasionally, there is an unavoidable absence known in advance, such as a family wedding, religious ceremony, or a family trip planned before the school calendar. The director and group can plan ahead by receiving this notice as far in advance as possible. For the benefit of all students, please put important rehearsals and performances into family calendars at the beginning of the year to prevent avoidable conflicts. Participation and cooperation are very important factors in student evaluation.
When a student knows they will be absent from a performance, this form should be presented to the director at least 2 weeks in advance. Emergencies will be handled on an individual basis.
If a student presents a reason for not attending a performance that is not excusable (e.g., non-emergency appointments), they will be asked to submit a video of all or part of their concert music for grading and will be graded based on individual playing.
If a student does not communicate an absence in advance and misses a performance, they will receive a 0 for the performance grade, except in emergencies, to be determined by the director.
